H Arthur and Robert Fendig of dhloago and Hammond, spent Saturday and Sunday with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Fendig, in the east part of town. “Buck” Duvall and son Charles of Nanton, Alberta, Canada, are here visiting with the former’s brother, C. W. Duvall and sister, Mrs. Mary Eger, and families. It is reported that when Harry Brown goes back to Lisbon, N. D„ tu» will not go alone, but will be accompanied by a young lady from Wheatfield, who will go as his bride. Albert Warner returned to his home in Thomas boro, 111., yesterday after a few days visit here on business. He rented his farm in Hanging Grove to Ott Hooker while here. N )sMr. and Mrs. Robert Lefler and baby, who had been here visiting with Mrs. Lefler's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Murray, returned to their home in Joliet, 111., Monday. sLMrs. Nicholas Krull and children qf Kentland and her sister, Miss Madaline Ramp of Depaw University, are spending the holidays with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. R. Ramp. 'L Uncle John Makeever was quite lpw for a few days, but was reported better yesterday. He still has a fighting chance to get up again, his strong will power being a great help in this respect. Owing to the advanced cost of printing material, paper, labor and living expenses in general, the White County Democrat announces that it will advance its subscription rates after Jan. 1, to $1.50 per year. J Guy Daniels, Clifford Payne and wbrry Gwln arrived home a few days ago from Marion where they are attending school and where the former has a position with a corporation at that place as stenographer and bookkeeper. J. J. Kepner and son George and the former’s son-in-law, T. J. Manly, who are erecting a business block at KendallvUle, arrived a few days ago to spend the holidays. The former and latter returned Monday .to Kendallville. BOrn to Mr. and Mrs. John Jefferies, December 21, 1909, a girl baby. The little one has the misfortune to be born with only the left hand. The right arm is not developed farther than the middle of the forearm.—Fowler Leader.
| Gaylord McFarland and Guy Gertyy arrived home Friday to spend the holidays. Guy‘returned to Kokomo yesterday where he is a teacher in a business college. Gaylord is also a teacher in mathmetics at the Marion Business Colege. Bessie Makeever-Parker-Shesler is now Mrs. Frank Barnes, having been married at Tulsa, Okla., last Wednesday to the latter of that place, where she has lately She was recently granted a divorce in the Jasper circuit court from her second husband, W. R. Shesler of east of town. Leonard Turner of Monticello, who was employed for six months a little more than a year ago as linotype operator on The Democrat, was married at Monticello Saturday to Miss Harriet Medker, daughter of former State Representative C. D. Meeker of that place. They will reside in Indianapolis where the groom is now employed. Dr. Honan of Berlin, Germany, who is here visiting his brother, E. P. Honan, for a few ddys, says he would like to meet as many of the boys of the Rensselaer schools as can possibly get out Thursday evening at the Library Auditorium at about 7 o'clock, and which time and place he will deliver an interesting lecture to the boys on his travels in the different countries. Mrs. J. H. Brown writes us from Buttzville, N. D., under date of Dec. 22, enclosing a year’s subscription for The Democrat to be sent as a Christmas present to her daughter, Mrg. Candace Patzsche, of Lisbon, N. D. and says: “We are having lots of snow but not very cold weather. It was 16 above zero Monday and the snow vsus blowing Borne, but not so bad but we drove to LlebQn. To-day the sun is shining some. This leaves every one well and enjoying themselves. Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy and prosperous New Year.** etc. Mr. and Mrs. Alex Lqach entertained Saturday quite a large number of relatives, there being their daughter, Mrs. A. O. Garrlott, husband and daughter, and sons Everett and Oscar Leach of Hammond; their daughter, Mrs. Carl Hantacher, husband and four children, of near Foresman; Mrs. Leach’s sister, Mrs. Willard, husband and two children and her brother, Edward Grider, of Rankin, Ill.; another sister, Mrs. Stickroe, and two children of Paxton, Ill.; and still another sister, Mrs. Phillips, of Blsmark, 111. ▲
