PRINCE CHUN STABBED

Chinese Regent Attacked Near His Palace—Personal Grievance Cause. Shanghai, China, Deb. 28.—Prince Chun, the regent and father of Emperor Pu, was stabbed and slightly wounded while leaving his carriage near the palace in Pekin. His assailant, who was arrested, is a-Mauchu, who formerly was a cook in the imperial household. The report spread that the plot was hatched by foreigners, and for a while the legations appeared to be in danger. The authorities declare the man who did the stabbing was actuated solely by a personal grievance.
