MARK TWAIN ADMITS HIS HEALTH IS POOR
Humorist Was Affected by Deatb of Oil Magnate Rogers New York, Dec. 21.—“ Yes. boys, Tm about all In. My life’s work is near an end. I'm about through with this world and this life.” Looking pale, Samuel L. Clemens (Mark Twain), America’s foremost humorist, made this statement to the newspaper men following his arrival
on the steamship Bermudian, from Bermuda, where he had spent the last eight weeks In an attempt to regain his lost strength. Those who saw the humorist were unanimous in declaring that his present condition was due in a great measure to the death last summer of his lifelong companion, H. H. Rogers, the former Standard Oil magnate. Rogers and Clemens were boon companions, and spent many hours together.
