THE STATE HOSPITAL FOR CON SUMPTIVES.

The state hospital for consumptives, now being constructed at Rockville, Parke county, will be finished about April 1, and ready to receive patients. But here is the awful thing about it, there is no money for conducting it. The Ways and Means- Committee of the last legislature refused to recommend the appropriation of a maintenance fund. In consequence, the life-sav-„ Ing station at Rockville must re&ain closed until" -thb next legislature meets, unless about $50,000 can be raised either by unsecured loan to the state or unless this sum is contributed. It is calculated that the state hospital for consumptives will save from 200 to 300 Hyes annually, and In doing this good work, will teach people how to live so as not to have consumption. This is a most Important matter foi consumption is brought on by wrong living. Already, a number of generous men have offered to advance the $50,000, without interest and without security, if the Governor will recommend Its repayment in his next message to the legislature.
