SIGNALS USEDON SUGAR DOCK
Flashes of Electric Lights Told of Approach of Inspectors. New York, Dec. 7.—ln the trial of James F. Bendernagel, Oliver Spitzer and four former checkers of the Havemeyer and Elder refinery in Williamsburg, the testimony of two government laborers showed the existence of an electric light signal system to warn the checkers on the docks of the approach of government agents and inspectors. Alexander Lexow, counsel for Spitzer, cross-examined Richard Parr who rose from a sick bed to answer the lawyer’s interrogations. Lexow failed to shake the testimony given by Parr last week.
