Mrs. John O’Connor was a Logansport visitor Friday. Grant Culp was a business visitor at the county seat Saturday. Bert Grenard visited in Lafayette and Crawfordsivlle last week. J. G. Tharp spent Thanksgiving with, his wife and children in Chicago. The Christian church ladles took in about S9O at their Thanksgiving dinner. Miss Myrtle Shand came down from Chicago to spend Thanksgiving with home folks. Mrs. Ed Bellows went to Berwyn, 111., Wednesday to visit Mr. and Mrs. Charles Murphy. Mrs. A. B. Coleman and daughter Anna went to Kouts Wednesday to visit relatives and friends. Ernest Hart and family of Goodland were Thanksgiving guests of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hart and son Morris of Wolcott spent Thanksgiving with Remington relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Max Harner of Goodland spent Thanksgiving here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C- W. Harner. Lowell Townsend came down from Chicago to eat Thanksgiving dinner with nls parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Townseud. Mr. and Mrs- Frank Peck and son Bruce spent Thanksgiving with Mrs. Peck’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Tedford, at Idaville. The Presbyterian ladies will hold their regular monthly tea at the home of Mrs. D. R. Jones to-morrow, (Thursday) evening. The Grove farm of 160 acres 2% miles east of Afonticello, has been purchased by Michael Rench and Harvey Lods for $16,000. Mr. and Mrs. Clark Bartee and Mise Claire Broadie of Lafayette spent Thanksgiving with the latters’ parents Mr. and Mrs. Wm. M. Broadie Dr. Rose M. Remmek, licensed optician, will be at the Griffith House Friday, Dec- 3. Those wishing consultation or examination of the eyes should call on her. Mrs. Westfall has gone to Whiting to visit her son John and from thence will go to Hutchinson, Kan., to spend the winter with her daughters residing there. Mrs- C. A. Baloom was taken to a sanitarium at Battle Creek, Mich.,
last week for treatment. She was accompanied there by Dr. Besser and her son Vern and wife. John Fry has purchased a iuhorse gasoline engine for use about his farm. Mr. rry is one or Carpenter township’s very best and most progressive farmers, and is a money-' maker at this occupation. At this writing James dowry, an old and well known citizen of Carpeter tp., is lying at the point of death, suffering from gall stones. He is 82 years of age, and no hopes are entertained of his recovery, we understand. Attorney J. W. Oswald and wife of Goodland left last Wednesday for Panama to spend the winter with their daughter and family, Mrs. l Hartley Rowe. Mr. Rowe holds a j position as electrical engineer on' the Panama Canal. Miss Anna Harlacher, formerly of Remington, was quite badly burned j last Friday at her -ome in Monti-! cello while attempting to start a Are, in the furnace of their home with coal oil. One hand and wrist were quite severely burned and her clothing also caught fire but she managed to extinguish it.

Mr. and Mrs. Frank Shroer visited with *his parents, Mr. and Mrs, John Shroer, Sunday. Edward Cooper, who is working at the county farm,' visited with home folks Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dallas Ropp visited with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Ropp, Sunday afternoon. Delos Thompson of Rensselaer and two parties from Chicago were hunting quail in this vicinity Sunday. Mr. .and Mrs. Albert Hurley and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Ropp visited with Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Ropp Sunday. George and Clyde Davisson took
John and Levi Renicker to Rensselaer in their auto Sunday afternoon. Sarah Kerns returned to Rensselaer Saturday after a week’s visit with her son, Jack Kerns and family. Charles Britt was by a limb from a falling tree Saturday and lay in an unconscious condition until found by Thomas Parker. He was quite severely hurt. Mrs. Shelby Comer and children, Misses Frances Davisson and Carrie Garriott and Laura and Herman George visited with Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hurley and family Sunday. John and Levi of North Manchester visitech-'S'aturday and Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. George Davisson. Mr. Davisson took them to Rensselaer in his auto Sunday afternoon. Quit a large crowd attended the dance at Canada’s Saturday night, and after the dance went to Mr. Nuss’s and chivaried Mr. and Mrs. James Campbell, who were married at the Clerk’s office in Renssfelaer Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Vest, Ren Shaffer and wife, Watson Humes and wife, Nancy Burgett, Anna Bond, Vernie Shroyer and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Williams were among the guests at the surprise oyster supper at Mr. and Mrs. Shelby Comer’s Wednesday night.
MILROY. James Boon has a brand-new buggy which Jessie says is fine. Mrs. G. L. Parks visited her mother, Mrs. Ravenscroft, Sunday. Everett Parks and A. Griswold are husking corn for G. L. ParksMrs. Dora Beaver called on her grandmother, Mrs. E. Johns Saturday. Airs- E. Johns is sick at this writing, Dr. Clayton was called Sunday morning. Willard Johnson’s moved to the I house vacated by John Wilbanks’, a tenant house of E. Gilmore’s. Mi. and Mrs. Lewis Daniels moved to Thomas Lear’s tenant house last week. He will work at tiling. Miss Belle Southard visited from - Thursday until Sunday evening in White county with the Misses Breckinridge. John Southard and family, James Boon and G. L. Parks and family were entertained Saturday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Miles. Mrs- George Foulks has bo far recovered from her seige of typhoid fever as to he able to visit her sister, Mrs. Frank May, a few days the first of the week. Frank May, who is still afflicted with rheumatism, has been doctoring with Dr. Stuart the last week and staying with D- Z. Clark, going to Monon for treatment every day.
McCOYSBURG. Miss Vera Lefler was in Rensselaer Monday. Mrs. J. R. Phillips and son Harvey were in Rensselaer Saturday. Simon Cook and family spent Sunday with Mrs. McKillip of Milroy tp. Wm. Zable ad family of near Lee spent Sunday with M. Ringeisen and family. Mr. and Mrs. Nathan Eldredge and little daughter went to Mon on Monday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Rishling spent Thanksgiving with Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Willetts. Mrs. F. L. Peregrine and little sons spent Monday afternoon with Mrs. J. H. Montz. Ed Peregrine’ daughters Mary and Myrtle, and son Oren were in Rensselaer Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Reed McCoy and Miss Myrtle Lewis were in Chicago Monday of last week. Ed Peregrine and daughters Mary and Myrtle spent Sunday with Sam Noland and family of near Lee- , Clarence Moritz left Monday evening of last week for Indianapolis where he has secured a position. Miss Laura Phillips and Mrs. Mary Ann Robinson spent Friday and Saturday with Mr. Wells’ of near Pleasant Grove. F. L. Peregrine and family, Miss Laura Phillips, Ray McDonald, Ross and O. M. Peregrine took dinner Sunday with Floyd Porter and wife. Mrs. Arthur Meadows and little sons returned to their home in Monon Sunday evening after a couple days visit with R. V. Johns and family-
Smith Hughes’ parents of near Monticello and brother of Missouri spent Sunday with Mr. H. and family. Miss Eva Hughes accompanied her uncle as far as Lafayette Sunday evening for a visit with relatives.
Mr. and Mrs. Van Wood and little son John of Rensselaer came Sunday evening for a short visit with the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Phillips. Their little son Jay, who had been visiting his grandparents for a few days, accompanied them home.
Miss Vera Lefler haß resigned her position as clerk in Reed McCoy’s store to accept a position with the Rowles & Parker store at Rensselaer and Miss Margaret Richmond of Pleasant Grove, who has been derking In the store at that place, has | been secured to take her place. Mlbb Lefler has a large circle of friends in this vicinity who regret to see her go. She will also be greatly missed in the Sunday School as she was an able and efficient worker. An entertainment was given here by Mr. and Mrs. Ostrander of Lee Saturday evening which was largely attended. Mr. and Mrs. Oetrander are both blind. Their program was i-eom posed of both vocal and instrumental duet’s and solos and recitations. One of the most attractive
parts of the program was a song: “Papa what would you take for me,” by their little daughter Mabel. Their bead-work was all sold and many went wanting.
