Matter Will Be Biscussed at Indianapolis Convention. Fort Wairne, Ind., Nov. 9. —Freight by canal from Chicago to Toledo is the ultimate purpose of the Toledo, Fort Wayne and Chicago Deep Waterways association, which will hold a convention here this week. Chicago, Cleveland, New York, Cincinnati, Toledo, Defiance, and other cities will have representatives at the convention. United States Senators Beveridge and Shively of Indiana will be among the speakers. The Michigan and Erie canal, as planned, from Chicago through Fort Wayne to Toledo, will be 270 miles long and 400 miles shorter than the present all water route from Chicago to Toledo by way of the great lakes.
