State Department Refuses to Intercede With Danish Scientists. Washington, Nov. 5. —The state department has declined to be drawn into the polar controversy. It has refused to aid the National Geographical society in Its attempt to induce the University of Copenhagen to permit Dr. F. A. Cook to submit tils recoi’Qr here before forwarding them to Denmark. It Is stated a committee of the society will proceed to Copenhagen to sit with the Danish scientists when Dr. Cook’s data is analyzed.
