At Least He Charges a Rensselaer Young Nan With Having Done So. William Lyons of Remington, who with Dan Coleman has been doing tome tiling for Lawler Bros., came in Saturday afternoon and got a $26 check cashed that he drew on his work. He then proceeded to buy' a quart of whiskey or get someone to buy It for him, and It was not long
until he was In a befuddled condition. ’ A young man who was hanging around with him finally took him down to Fate’s and wanted a room for him. As Billy had been stopping there at times before, Mr. Fate took them up to a room and left them there. He soon heard a racket on the stairs like someone was in a great hurry to come down, and on looking out he saw the young man who had gone to the room with Lyons hurrying down the Btreet. The latter also hurried down the stairs and told Fate that the fellow had taken S2O from him. Lyons did not know the young man by name, and he had given a fictitious name to him, but he later learned his real name. •Nothing was done Saturday night about making an arrest, and Sunday the fellow left town. He will probably come back, however, as his family is here. Lyons did not want to swear out a warrant, because, he said, the young man’s brother told him if he would not prosecute that he would see that he got his S2O back, and if he had him arrested, he said, he might have him fined but stood a poor show of getting his S2O.
