Unique Ad Brings Bale of Replies to Chicago Man. Chicago, Oct. 19. —The following appeared as a display ad in a Chicago paper: “WANTED—A GOOD SERVANT— Where is the old time servant —the kind you read about —who was a family fixture and an heirloom to the second generation? The kind which shared the family’s interests, its fortunes and finally, oftentimes. Its burial ground? I have the old fashioned kind of a home and family, and old fashioned ideas about the treatment of those who work for me. I want a girl or woman for cooking and general housework —one who will measure up to the standard of the old days, when a family servant was proud of being a good servant. I will be a good employer to such a servant—will pay the highest current wages or more, give her as good a home a. I have and treat her as a human being.” The advertiser has a bale of letters and feels certain that he is one man who has solved the servant problem.
