MAYOR AND POLICE HELD

Will Be Tried For Putting Federal Officer Into lowa Jail. Davenport, la., Oct. 8. —Mayor Oliver Ingledue of Marshalltown, la.. Deputy Sheriff Charles Nason, Samuel Wenger and Fitz Wenger, saloonkeepers, Assistant Chief of Police Michael Clark, Police Sergeant Gooddale. Patrolman Matthew Jones and Frank Haas and Leon MacNamara, a bartender, were brought before United States Judge Skith McPherson here on a charge of conspiring to prevent a federal officer from doing his duty. Judge McPherson held the Indicted men under bonds of SI,OOO each to appear for trial at the next term of the federal court in Des Moines. Mayor Ingledue and the others are charged with putting into jail Everett E. Van Wert, a special officer detained to investigate alleged sales of liquor to Indians.
