GRAFT PROBE IN GARY

Charges Made by Negro to Be Investlgated by Grand Jury. Gary, Ind., Oct. s.—Charges of graft implicating two members of the town board will be brought before the Lake county grand jury, called to meet today. Revelation of police protection given to gamblers and other disreputables at fixed prices is looked for by those who are familiar with the situation. The jury was called specially to con slder charges brought, first, by Leslie Caldwell, a negro, who Interrupted a political speech of John E. Sears, president of the town board, and said that he had been conducting dice games in Gary because he had paid two members of the board for protection.
