TAX LEVY REMAINS THE SAME.

City Council Meets Monday Night and Fixes Tax Rate for 1909. The city council met Monday night in regular session and among other things fixed the tax levy for the ensuing year. The total rate Is the same as last year, and for comparison we publish the rate for both last year and this, by funds: 1909 1908 Road Fund3o 20 Corporation 40 40 Waterworks 15 15 Library 10 10 Light 10 10 Special school ....'-40 45 Tuition 45 50

Totals $1.90 $1.90 This is a raise of 10 cents in the road fund over last year and a reduction of 5 cents each in the special i school and tuition funds. Other busines transacted was as follows: Contract with W. F. Smith & Co., for the improvement oi East Wash- , ington street approved. -ยป City attorney instructed to prepare resolution for the establishing of an alley in Block 15, original plat, east of the Makeever hotel, and running north to Cornelia street. The marshal was instructed to superintend the construction of the Washington street improvement and see that same was done according rto plans and specifications, Supt. of light plant was instructed to extend line to residences of F. M. Haskell and Chas. Malchow, said parties to pay within three i months the cost of such extension, not to exceed fifty dollars, and to have credit for same on light rentals.

City attorney instructed to prepare resolution for a sidewalk in front of lots in Blocks 7 and 8, South add. in front of Chas. Robinson and Mrs. Geo. Robinson properties. Supt. of light plant authorized to purchase a carload of light poles for use of city. Bid of Landy Magee of $75 for painting water tank was accepted, city to furnish paint.
