MAYOR CALLED BLACKMAILER
Demand on Pennsylvania Road For *45,000 Causes Official’s Conviction. Philadelphia. Sept. 21.—Abram C. Eby, mayor of Burkevllle, Va.. who wrote to President McCrea of the Pennsylvania railroad that unless he was paid the sura of $45,000, he would blow up the property of the Norfolk and Western railroad, was convicted by a jury here of using the mall to attempt blackmail. Sentence was deferred pending an appeal.
