The report of the drainage commissioners in the Kankakee river ditch, known as the Horace Marble ditch, was filed Monday. The report comprises about 600 pages and the preliminary costs are something enormous, reaching, no doubt, in the neighborhood of 115,000. The estimated benefits are $352,688, and estimated cost $271,283. The attorney. A. Halleck, will likely receve, if the ditch goes through, $10,000,0r 4 per cent on the estimated costs, which would be $lO,840—a fortune in itself. This Is the fee allowed by law, we understand. The main ditch is 118,000 feet long, and 4,025,687 cubic yards of earth are to be removed. There are seven laterals, 2,700, 2,400, 1,500, 3,000, 2,000, 1,900 and 5,300 feet long, respectively.' * The bill of Hugh L. Gamble, enneer, is $670.65 Chainmen 54.00 D. M.
