LET CONTRACT FOR STREET IMPROVEMENT.

At the special meeting of the city council Monday night only Council men Brown, Gerber and Spitler were present, Councilmen Irwin and Meyers not being in attendance. The meeting was for the purpose of considering the bid for the improvement of Washington street east two blocks, from Cullen to Division. The bid of W. F. Smith & Co., of $5.25 per lineal foot for both sides, between Cullen and Weston, including cement curb and gutter, was accepted; also their bid of $4.50 per lineal foot between Weston and Division, where there Is not gutter. Plans and specifications for the extension of the Division and Scott street sewer to the new river channel were adopted and notice ordered given for receiving bids on Oct. 11.
