Items Picked Up About the County Capitol. Business is still very dull in the marriage license line, only three licenses having been issued so far this month. The expert accountant, who has the contract for examining the county records for six years back, has not put in an appearance as yet. Marshall has named John E. Alter of Union tp., as one of the Indiana delegates to the Congress ot Farmers, which meets at Raleigh, N. C. No arrests had been made up to the hour of going to press in either of the five indictments returned by the grand jury last week. It is rumored that the blowing up of the Gilmore houseboat recently was one of the matters investigated, but no evidence justifying an indictment was secured. Following is a report of the proceedings of the circuit court since our last issue: Grover Smith ditch; commissioner files petition to pay S3OO to C. I. & S. R. R.; payment oidered. Joseph Borntrager, et al. ditch; bill of exceptions No. 1, heretofore filed, made a part of record; petitioners file motion to strike out amended objections, sustained and exceptions; motion to dismiss for want of jurisdiction, overruled and exceptions; petitioners file written motion to amend duplicate petition by signing same, to which S- P. Thompson and 10 others object; leave granted to so amend, to which same parties except; duplicate petition to be filed by Oct. 2, 1909, with clerk; 20 days given to file all objections. Harvey J. Dexter, et al. ditch; service sufficient and time given for exceptions. A F. Mitchell ditch; same order. Charles G. Kessinger, et al. vs. Harry P. Kessinger, et al; appraised value of real estate $1,600, sale reported to Charles B. Caldwell for $2,000; sale confirmed and deed ordered; court allows Geo. A. Williams $l5O and L. Strong, commissioner*- SIOO. Thomas F. Dowling vs. Orin and Archie Elijah; defendants ask for a change of venue from the court and same ie granted and court names Geo. Marvin of White county is seHalleck from whom to select judge; Goe. Marvin of White county is selected by the parties. Henrietta L. Akers vs. Frederick Akers; Submitted and evidence heard and deed ordered as prayed for; E. P. Honan appointed commissioner to make deed; allowance of $lO to said Honan to be taxed as costa. * . • Horace Marble ditch; commisioners file report and cause continued for objections. J. F. Mitchell ditch; Benjamin Welsh and four others file remonstrance. John F. Judy vs. James Britt; plaintiff files affidavit for change of venue, and case sent to Newton county. E. W. Sawyer vs. Philip Blue, adm.; plaintiff asks for continuance and cause is continued until September 25. George Timmons vs. Martin Sommers and William Garvin; judgment for $295.15. J. C. Gwin vs. Philip Blue, adm.; jury trial, verdict for .plaintiff for amount of claim of $5.61.
