WAS OPERATED ON MONDAY

Miss Alice Bates Undergoes Successvj ful Operation for Appendicitis. kMiss Alice Bates, deputy in the county auditor’s office and % popular young lady, was taken to Chicago Sunday afternoon by her local physician where Monday morning she underwent aq operation for appendicitis in Hahnemann hospital. Her mother, Mrs. N. S. Bates and sister, Mrs. W. J. Wright, went up Monday morning to be there during the operation, which is said to have been successful, although quite a severe one, she being on the joperatiug table about two hours. 'L This is the second operation* Miss Bates has undergone recently. The flret was not successful, owing to other complications being found by the surgeons and it being deemed unwise to remove the appendix at that time. It was known that another operation would be necessary, but It was not Intended to have it performed until some time next month. However, she was not getting along as well as desired and the appendicitis trouble again commenced to be felt, so it was decided that the less delay the better. The many friends of Miss Bates and of the family hope that she may now soon recover her former excellent health.
