SHERIFF REFUSES TO EVICT THE STRIKERS

Pressed Steel Car Company Will Have to Do It. Pittsburg, Aug. 13.—The sheriff of Allegheny county has flatly refused to continue the work of evicting strikers and their families from houses owned by the Pressed Steel Cor company at McKee’s Rocks. Acting under court orders, the sheriff and his deputies began the work of conveying the goods from the strikers’ homos to the streets. The sheriff asked the Pressed Steel Car company to give him men to carry out the furniture and household effects, but the company, it is said, refused. “Then I will not allow my deputies to carry out another piece of furniture," declared the sheriff. He then formally and verbally turned over to the superintendent of the car plant possession of the houses. The Pressed Bteel Car company will now be forced to carry out their own evictions.
