Mrs. John and Miss Katherine Kolholl went to Lafayette Monday for a few days visit with relatives. Rev. 0. E. Miller has rented the Van Grant proprety on Van Rensselaer street and will move into it at once. Mrs. Rebecca Stephenson and daughter, Mrs. William Fry went to Hammond Monday to visit with relatives. Mrs. James Pierson left Monday for Greenwood, Ark., where her husband is riding races for J. M. Ravenscroft. Mrs, W. H. Galbraith of Chicago came Saturday to spend a few days with her father, James Lewis of Barkley tp. The Healy orchestra has been engaged to furish music for the grand bowery dance at Parr’s Fourth of July celebration Saturday. Vern Jacks, who has been working the past year for Len Lefler of Lafayette, came Monday to spend the summer with his parents. F. W. Fisher of Kankakee tp., was a business visitor in the city Saturday, going from here to his farm in Hanging Grove tp.
Mesdames L. Schrege and H. Mussel of Chicago returned to their home Saturday after a short visit with relatives near Surrey. Ray Osborne of Elmhurst, 111., came Saturday to visit with his father, Frank Osborne, who is in a critical condition with a cancer. Elder and Mrs. H. V. Reed of Chicago returned nome Monday. Elder Reed delivered two lectures at the Church of God Sunday. John Ward, owner of the depot barber shop lately operated by Charley Jacks, has closed up shop until another barber can be secured. J. R. Cain and Charles Dluzack, two young men from near Remington, left Monday for Pierre, So. Dak., to find employment on a farm. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Sternberg left yesterday for an extended trip through the west. They will visit at Denver, Seattle and Los Angeles. Mr. and Mrs. Leo Wolfe of Hammond spent Sunday with her parents. Mr. and Mrs. A. Leopold. They drove through in their Mitchell auto.
Mr. and Mrs. Grover Rollings returned Sunday to their home in Indianapolis after a week’s visit with Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Biggs, her parents. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Sanders returned Monday to their home in Lebanon after a visit with Mrs. J. H. Jessen and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hoover. Miss Beatrice Thomas went to Lafayette Saturday to spend the summer with her aunt. Mrs. John Smith accompanied her for a few days visit. Flossie, Everett and Russel Winters of Chicago came Monday to spend the summer with their grandmother, Mrs. A. F. Griswold, south of town. The cherry crop has turned out to be fairly good, although a large amount of .hem have rotted on the trees as a result of the continued wet weather. W, S. Fisher of Hendrick county, T. J. Jones of Sheridan, and John Cline of Delphi, held services at the Primitive Baptist church near Mt. Ayr Sunday. Attorney C. Arthur Tuteur of the X7»rthwestern Life Insurance Co., of Indianapolis, came Friday to visit a few days with his mother, Mrs. Anna Tuteur. J. W. Helm and daughter, Mildred of Chicago came Saturday to visit with Mr. and Mrs. W. V. Porter, the former returning to his home Monday.
Scof;t Chestnut returned Sunday from Detroit where he took W. C. Babcock’s auto for repairs. The machine will be ready to leave shop this week. Ira Osborne of Chicago came Monday to visit with his father, Frank Osborne. Mrs. Mabel Wood and chidren of Rochester, a daughter, are also at his bedside. 'L John Ramp, one of the clerks in tsie Home Grocery, is taking a vacation this week and visiting his sister, Mrs. N. Krull in KentlaifiT'and friends in Kankakee", 111. Fair Oaks is planning to have a great time at its 4th of July celebration Saturday. They assure everyone a pleasant time and plenty of cool shade to view the events.
