New York, June 29.—Following a conference between counsel for the American Sugar Refining company, and for the United States there was a well authenticated rumor that the government will not further press Its charge against the company of preventing the Pennsylvania Sugar Refining company, a competitor, from doing business. The arguments made by John G. Milburn and his associates to Henry A. Wise. United States attorney, was that the offense alleged took place more than three years ago, and thus falls within the immunities of the statute of limitations.
