COLLEGEVILLE HAPPENINGS.

Last Sunday evening was a very enjoyable one. A delightful concert was rendered by the band, and the priihe condition of their renditions promises not a little enjoyment to our commencement visitors. . One of the most interesting and pleasant features of the final exercises will be the Cantata with orchestral accompaniment. It is a very harmonious musical composition and all the participants are doing proper justice to it. The carpenters are setting the large wooden roof trusses. The spacious rear window is also in position, and the tower walls' are fast rising. The coppersmiths are lining the finished walls with copper mouldings that form the base of the eaves. A high class exhibition of the national pastime was given on the college diamond Sunday. The St. Xavier’s defeated the Varsity in a strenously contested game by the score of 4 to 3. It was nobody's game till the last thumb was turned down. ORirkart pitched In Walsh form and only for the bobbles of his assistants he would have emerged with a clean record. Hasser had great difficulty in locating the plate and that caused most of his troubles. There is no dearth of base ball timber and honors are assured to S. J. C. for years to come. -

The practice of Richelieu is going strongly apace. Mr. Pax the impersonator of the title role shows great acting form. Day after day the conviction, that the local lovers of true dramatic art will have a good opportunity to Satisfy their desires, forces itself upon us more and more. The costumes and the staging will be in keeping with the high standard of the drama presented. F. Szwirschina of Cincinnati, manager of one of the largest theatrical costume houses in the country, will furnish the trappings for this occasion. Remember the date, Tuesday evening, June 15, 1909.
