LIFE SENTENCE FOR HABITUAL CRIMINAL

Chicago Crook Given Heavy Punishment In Indiana. LaPorte, Ind., June 4. —Peter Sobe■ki, aged twenty-two, Chicago crook who robbed Sonneborn’s sporting goods house and escaped with $2,000 worth of goods, using a stolen race horse and who was captured in a pistol duel by officers, pleaded guilty to burglary in the LaPorte circuit court. He was sentenced by Judge Richter to life imprisonment. This was Sobeski’s third conviction and under the Indiana law he becomes an habitual criminal, the penalty for which is life imprisonment.
