WRENS WIN SUNDAY’S GAME.
In a Superb Finish Pulled Out the Long End of a 5 to 6 Score . With Brook Sunday. Three hundred crazy bugs’ Sunday afternoon at the ball park, saw the mighty swatters of Brook break their backs in a well-meant attempt to connect with the twisting sperold that left-handed Hanks, the pride of St. Ignatius, was handing up to them. Throughout the entire game his pitching was brilliant, holding the Newton stickers to two lonely hits and ont of those a scratch to left garden. Three times he pitched out of the mire ‘when the Wrens by a grand carnival of misplays behind him let runners op bases, and when the clouds seemed darkest he came back smiling and whipped eleven of their batters. Wilcox startd in one half of the first with a well-earned tally and things lookd, good till Brook in the fourth ungraciously helped themselves to a pair on Wickmire’s invitations. Three more in the sixth made it look like a hopeless case, but the Wrens turned it into a sfat-fest, and when they counted up in the ninth, Parks, Wilcox and Hanks had pushed over the winning tallies.
