TWENTY-SIX INNINGS FOR ONE BALL GAME

Ires Eye. Teams Break All Professional Records. ( Bloomington, 111., June I.—Bloomington and Decatur of the Three Eye league broke the world’s professional record for a long baseball game in a contest which went twenty-six innings. Decatur won by a score of 2 to L The game started at 2 o’clock, a double header being scheduled, and the first ten innings were played in a steady drizzle. The grounds were muddy and slippery, but the fielding on both sides was sensational and the pitching of both Burns and Clark phenomenal. Decatur won when Fisher was hit by a pitched ball and Purtell contributed a three-bagger. Bloomington protested the game, claiming Fisher cut second base. The contest was called for fifteen minutes on account of ratn.ln the fifth Inning. The actual playing time was 4 hours and 20 minutes.
