Sands spent Sunday with her parents in Monon. ”X J. D. Babcock of Bluff ton came Friday evening on a few days business trip. * } Mrs. Will Beck of Terre Haute came Sunday to visit with Mrs. Martha Donnelly. , v Mrs. H. C. Nichols of Chesterton came Saturday to visit her father, James Flynn. Raymond Tyner returned to his home in Monon Saturday after spending a few days here. Mrs. E. W. Irwin and Miss Jennie Graham of Wolcott spent Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Irwin. Mrs. Percy Longfellow and baby returned with her brother Ermon Ullom to Chicago Monday and will probably remain there. Mrs. Alpha Reed and little daughter of Logansport spent Sunday with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. C. A. Brown, of north of town. Miss Milioent Work, instructor in Latin at the high school, returned to her home in Elkhart Monday to spend the summer vacation. W. H. Collins, accompanied by his grand-daughter, Miss Jennie Parkinson, returned to his home in Covington, Ohio, Saturday. ~-'jMrs. Ralph Sprague and little daughter of. Gibbon, Neb., came Sunday for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Woodworth. Mr. and Mrs. John Collins of Indianapolis came Saturday evening for a few days visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Collins. Miss Helen Harris returned to her home in Aurora, 111., Monday after a few days visit here, the guest of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Wright. Miss Ellen Childers, one of this year’s graduates went to Terre Haute Sunday to enter the State normal school for the summer term. xFrank Osborne returned Friday Elmhurst, 111., where he has been recovering from recent operations for the pipe cancer on his lip.
Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Fate and son Joe returned Monday to Indianapolis. They, have been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Fate. A Marion racing car passed through town Saturday. The car was stripped for action and was being taken to Crown Point for practice runs. Charles Odom of Gillam tp., is another Jasper county farmer to indulge in an automobile, and last week he bought a fine 22-horse power Rambler touring car. A Jackson 40-horse power racer went through Rensselaer Friday, bound for Crown Point, where, the driver stated, it would be entered in the auto races. It was from Ohio. Mrs. A. W. Harner and daughter of Kingman, Kas., came Saturday for an extended visit with J. F. Irwin and Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Wallace. Prof. Bradshaw left yesterday for his home in Indianapolis to visit a short time, after wmch he will go to New York City to attend Columbia University. Eph Hickman had an offer from a Chicago firm to drive a car in the races at Crown Point. He was to receive $2,000, but it didn’t look good to Eph. Ernest Comer returned Thqrsday from Wabash where he attended the high school commencement exercises. His sister Marie accompanied him, but will remain for a longer visit. E. P. Honan was the guest of honor at a banquet given by the Knights of Columbus at Lafayette Sunday evening. Forty candidates were admitted to membership In the order. W. C. Baker came down from Chicago Saturday night to spend a few days with ais father, John N. Baker and family of Barkley tp., before starting on an extended trip through the east. Mrs. Charles Hammond, son Ralph, nelce, Dollie McColly and mother, Mrs. James Yeoman, left Saturday for the former’s home in Big Rapids, Mich. The two latter will visit only a short time. Wiltshire and wife returned Friday from Town Creek. Ala., where they had been spending the last three months. Corn in that country is knee high and potatoes end garden truck have been large enough to eat for the pavt month.
