About the County Capitol, *KJdarriage licenses issued: May 28,’ Richard Peterson of Fair Oaks, aged 23, occupation farmer, to Minnie Walstra, also of Fair Oaks, aged 23, occupation housekeeper. First marriage for each. Tuesday’s Indianapolis News contained a dispatch from Logansport stating that sixteen divorce cases had been filed In the Cass circuit court so far this month and. only three marriage licenses. The dam built by Contractor B. J. Moore in the Iroquois ditch, back of the Stott Qrant place to float his drill boat, proved unequal to the task of holding hack the mighty Iroquois, and gave way in the center, delaying theyrock drilling until it can be rebuilt. Morlan has workmen busy in repairing the broken tile and slate on the 6ourt house roof. Some nine barrels of the tile and quite a number of slate shingles have been bought and received to repair the damage caused during some years past of tile and stone w.ork becoming loosened and blown off by the wind, breaking shingles and tiling, which has not been replaced.
The assault and battery case against Mrs. Delphia Steele, her daughter, Mrs. Mary Nevitt and Mrs. Mabel Fuller, all of Roselawn, mention ot which was made In The Democrat at the time of Its occurance several weeks ago, was tried in the Newton circuit court Tuesday and all were found guilty and fined SSO, $5 and sl, respectively. The costs In the case amount to $114.75. Mrs. Reuben Gundy was the victim of the alleged assault.
