Lawyer Wounded by Giri’s Father Works In Cell. BE STILL IS AFTER KNOX Despite His Injury and the Fact That His Wife Has Instituted Divorce Proceedings and the Statement of Miss Remy That She No Longer Loves Him, the Crippled Prisoner Keeps Himself In a Literary Mood. Columns, Ind., May 21. —The imprisonment of Charles W. Caldwell, the lawyer-school teacher, who Is in the county jail here on a charge of trying to abduct sixteen-year-old Belah Remy, his former pupil, has not taken the romance out of him, nor has the pain from a gunshot wound inflicted by the girl’s father had the effect of turning his thoughts from love. s Just now he is whiling away the tedious hours in his cell by writing a love story in which he is the hero and the other persons responsible for his present predicament are the other chief characters in the book. In his mail today Caldwell received a registered letter from the clerk of the supreme court of the District of Columbia, informing him of the amount of bond required to file his famous suit to oust Secretary of State Knox in that court and also instructions as to how to get his case into the court.

Caldwell’s forthcoming novel as outlined by the author deals with local persons and local incidents and they will appear as follows in the book: Bloomington Pike, Dowell Hill, the sisters; Bill Brunker, the deformed midget; Eleanor Whittington, the beauty; Amosa White, the dissatisfied widower; Carrie Coffman, the dashing widow; Charles Bumpus, the Indianapolis dude; Charles Dittman, the merchant; South Bethany whitcapping, the elopement, the pursuit, the escape, married at last; Alex. Lane, the suicide; Frank, lover of Belah; body found in the river and. its history, etc. Belah Remy says she doesn’t love Caldwell any more and that she is going to henceforth be very good and obey her father. Divorce proceedings have been instituted by Caldwell’s wife.
