DISMISSED WHEN FIGHT WAS SHOWN.
The case of State Food Inspector Tucker against Fred Keplar has been dismissed in Squire Graves court, the inspector stating that a new suit would be brought in circuit court. The case was set for trial last Monday, but as Fred was about to take a change of venue the inspector dismissed the suit. It was based on a charge brought by Mr. Tucker that hamburger steak bought of Fred last February contained preservatives. The chemist’s report with the affidavit states that the meat contained .01203 per cent, sulphur dioxide and .01542 per cent, sulphurous acid. A total of twenty-seven one-thousandths looks small to the average man, but that is what the alleged violation is based upon. Fred says the meat was bought in Chicago; he supposed the government inspection there guaranteed it to him as pure, and that he uses no preservatives whatever.—Pulaski County Democrat. These pure rood “prosecutions” savor a good deal like the so-called tax-ferret investigation held in Jasper county a few years ago.
