AN IMMENSE CROWD EXPECTED

To the Auto Races In Lake County June 18 and 19. It is estimated that the auto races in Lake county Friday and Saturday, June 18 and 19, will bring 300,000 to 400,000 people, and that at least $1,000,000 will be left in that county as a result of these races. Thousands of automobiles from all parts, of the country will bring sight-seers, and practically every auto in Chicago will be out. Thousands will also come The big race, 020 miles, we believe, is to be on the first day, and it is expected the racers will mjake an average O- 75 miles an hour or better, we are told. The track is 23 miles in length, and has numerous turns which will be banked so that the speed need not be reduced so much in making the turns. On one straight stretch of eight miles perhaps a speed of 100 miles per hour will be made. The course runs through the main street of Lowell, and as it would not do to let them speed through a town where the people must pass back and forth across the street, an allowances of a certain number of minutes is made for passing through that town, and the drivers must not run faster than this allowance.

No doubt hundreds of people from Rensselaer and vicinity will go up to Lowell and Cedar Lake to see these races, as it is quite convenient for our people to reach either place.
