SUSPEND PURE FOOD LAW IN SOME CASES

Charges Made In Congress Certain Firms Are Favored. Washington, May 11. Believing that the departments of commerce and labor and agriculture have suspended the operation of the pure food and drug act in certain cases, Represents-" tlve Steenerson has introduced several resolutions calling for information as to the issuance of any orders waiving the operation of the law in any case. One of the firms which Steenerson believes has been exempted from the operation of the law is the Chicr ;o house with which Secretary of the Treasury MacVeagh formerly was con nected. The congressman declares that no officer of the cabinet has the right to suspend the operation of the law In any case, and says that if he does so he is liable to Impeachment.
