Don’t forget the county option election Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Barnet visited in Valparaiso last week. Jasper Guy was in Rensselaer Monday looking after cases in court. Mrs. Vogel has moved to North Judson, where her son John is employed. Mrs. C. T. Dye of Lafayette visited Mrs. Harry Hartley nere a few days last week. Miss Alice Tharp, formerly of Remington, was married April 27 to a Chicago gentleman. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Thompson left Thursday for a visit at Logansport, Kokomo and Lafayette. ’ Homer Guy of Lamy Junction, N. M., is visiting his father, Jasper Guy, for a few weeks. Mrs. G. F. Bloom is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Ellis Keifer, in Indianapolis for a few weeks Mr. and Mrs. John Dunham returned Thursday from a several weeks visit in Pontiac, 111. Goodland Herald: Frank Rich returned home Tuesday after a two weeks tour through Texas. A. V. Lock left last week for Nebraska, where he will do some live stock sketching for breeders. Rev. Wilson will preach the baccalaureate sermon next Sunnday afternoon at 2:30 at the M. E. church. Mrs. Ada Dobbins returned lately from Kansas City where she spent the winter with her sister, Mrs. Cox. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Townsend went to Chicago Thursday for a few days visit with their son Lowell and to consult an eye specialist. Mrs. John O’Connor and son Marlon and daughter, Mrs. Jason Bickel and baby attended the wedding of their cousin, Miss Clara Treanor and Mr. John Farabough, at Logansport last Tuesday. Kentland Democrat: Mrs. Sarah Ellis, of Wolcott, visited with relatives here over last ’Friday night and was accompanied home Saturday by her father, Thomas Calllgan, for several days visit. Mr. and Mrs. John Jordan and Mrs. A. Elmore, W. T. Elmore, and Blanchard Elmore attended the funeral of Wta. Foster, the 26-year-old son of J. D. Foster of Idaville, at that place last Tuesday. He died of consumption. Fowler Republican: Edgar M. Johnson and Thomas M. O’Connor
will locate in Fowler, May Ist with a new drug stock. They will occupy J. B. LaGue’s building opposite postofflce. Both these young men were raised in Benton county and are graduates in pharmacy from Purdue University and registered pharmacists in the state of Indiana.
WHEATFIELD. Don’t forget that Satudray is the election day. Newt Byers is quite seriously ill at this time. Simon Fendig is having his house raised and repaired. Lase Langdon has purchased the draying outfit of H. N. Clark. Wm. Weese and “Shorty” Davisson went to the camp Friday. Chas. Demming of Shelby is visiting with relatives here this week. The Wheatfield regulars will play the North Judson Tigers here May 9th. Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Meyers returned from the south Thursday via auto. Alva McNeil of Lacrosse spent Saturday and Sunday with the home folks. Will Story went to Lowell Monday to work on the automobile race track. Mr. and Mrs-, Earl Pierce of Kouts visited Sunday with the Lidke family. Henry Miller, Sr., went to Wichart, 111., Thursday to work on a dredge. Mrs. Robt. Mannan went to Rensselaer Saturday to visit with her sister, Mrs. John Tilton. Roy Blue and Miss Vanderburg went to Knox Saturday to take the teachers’ examinations. «Shultz and son Joe Rodgers of Chicago came Saturday for a few days visit with relatives. Will Rockwell, who has been working near the oil fields, came Saturday to visit his parents. Harry Remley contemplates starting an ideal lunch room in connection with his restaurant. Hurrah for Harry. The Boughton Vaudeville Company concluded their week’s show here Saturday. Miss Anna Clark received the prize for the prettiest young lady. Miss Lota Dunn second. DeArmond and Mrs. Frank Hight were here Saturday to take the Civil Service examination for the position of postmaster in the Tefft postofflce. The Medaryville high school team defeated the W. H. S. team by a score of 3 to 1. This is the first game played by our boys and considering with no practice, they did excellent work.

Vilas and Bennie Price and Newton Jenkins spent Saturday night and Sunday with Ed Jenkins. Ethel and Bertha Holmes and Agnes Hurley went riding with the l“Green Hat” Sunday afternoon. Ethel, Bertha, Spencer, Esta and Wade Holmes and Agnes Hurley called on Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Price Sunday. Lucy and Kathryn Morgenegg, Ethel and Bertha Holmes, Agnes, Leota and Margaret Hurley called on Gertrude Kolhoff Thursday evening. Those who called on Lucy Mor-' genegg Sunday were: Bessie, Jennie, William and Alpha McElfresh, 1 Gertrude Kolhoff, Leota and Mar-| garet Hurley, ‘ All enjoyed a good time. Barney Kolhoff and two children, Leo and Gertrude, and Bessie McElfresh, Aleck Hurley and family, John Marlatt and Joseph Pullins and family were Rensselaer goers Saturday.
MT. PLEASANT. John Garriott went to Parr Saturday evening. Will Smith is working for Arthur Zimmerman this week. Clyde Davisson and Jess Walker were Parr visitors Sunday. Joseph Williams took three loads of hogs to Rensselaer Friday. Minnie Ritter and Francle Davisson visited with Stella Marion Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Clouse attended church at Good Hope Sunday afternoon. Firman Wells bought some fruit trees at the John Pool nursery here Tuesday. Herbert Garriott has been doing some tile ditching for Charley Reed this week. Clyde Davisson is starting up 'quite a dairy and is doing well in i the business. John Garriott attended the show 'at the opera house in Rensselaer Wednesday evening. George Davisson and Clyde Davisson and Jess Walker were Rensselaer callers Thursday. Mrs. Roscoe Garriott and children visited Mr. and Mrs. Albert Garriott and family Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. John Clouse visited at the home of Mrs. Maggie Clouse at Rensselaer Saturday. Mrs. Frank Payne and Blanche McClannahan called on Mrs. Elda Clouse Tuesday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Grant Davisson spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Albert Garriott and family. John Price visited with Mr. and Mrs Lewis Stowers and Mr. and Mrs. John Baker near Laura Sunday. James Meyers, who has been in poor health for some time, called on a doctor at Rensselaer Saturday. Herbert Garriott, Carrie Garriott and Lilly Hurley attended the temperance lecture at Rosebud Sunday evening. Willis Hurley sent to Chicago for an Economy Chief Separator, which came Tuesday and is giving good satisfaction. The heavy rains that fell Wednesday night and Thursday has made it so wet that very few farmers can do much work. John Ward finished drilling a well for Edward Ritter last week and moved his engine and outfit to Rensselaer Saturday. Tom Sanders moved with his family to Tennessee last week, Hattie Stockwell accofnpanylng them. Mr. Sanders moved here from Tennessee about a year ago. Cecil Swaim and Herbert Garriott went to the Davisson gravel pit Sunday to wash their buggy. The boys drove into the pit and found the water much deeper than was expected. The horse turned off the road throwing them out into ,the water, chin deep, thoroughly soaking them. Cecil managed to get the horse unfastened from the buggy
and out of the water, after losing two robes, one overcoat and a horse blanket.
