Washington, April 20.—The tariff debate was opened in the senate when Senator Aldrich reviewed, at length, the pending measure which had been reported from the committee on finance. . Senator Daniel, the senior minority member of the committee on finance, followed Senator Aldrich, and laid down the general line of opposition that will be made to the pending measure by the Democrats.
