April 16.—William Kindred and family had an encounter wRb a maniac in which their lives were saved only by beating the man Into Insensibility. He went to the Kindred home and awakened the family by knpcklng on the door. When refuted admission he battered down the door with a heavy club jand knocked Kindred down on entering the house.
