JASPER COUNTY WILL SOON BE DRY
The Only Salooonist In the County Is Denied a License for Cause. Aaron Timmons, the only salooonkeeper within the bounds of Jasper county, was denied a renewal of his license Monday by the county commissioners, for cause, and after the expiration of his present license, March 13, the entire county will be dry in theory at least for a while. Timmons conducts a saloon at Tefft, Kankakee tp., away up in the northeast part of the county, and heretofore a remonstrance strong enough to defeat him has not been possible. Of late especially, it is said, his place has been the scene of fights and drunks, a drunken fight taking place there only last Thursday, and it was determined to try to defeat him on the grounds of unfitness. S. C. Irwin represented those who were trying to defeat the license, and had no very serious trouble in convincing the commissioners of the applicant’s unfitness, in fact his own admissions of selling to men who were drunk, etc., was It is rumored that a remonstrance will now be gotten up and filed before anyone else can get in and secure a license.
