VILSACK TO ASK MERCY

Former Cashier of Bank Offers No Defense In Graft Case. Pittsburg, Feb. 23.—Telling of the payment of five SIOO bills each to Councilman John F. Klein and President William Brand of the common council and of seeing and hearing through holes bored in a door all the negotiations for putting through ah ordinance for a cash consideration, Detective Robert Wilson was the principal witness against former bank cashier A, A. Vilsack. Vllsack has admitted his part in negotiating with Councilman Klein to have his bank made a city depository in consideration of $17,500. For this Klein and W. M. Ramsey, former president of the bank, have already been convicted. Vilsack states he will throw himself on the mercy of the court.
