' E. B. Pratt of Hebron was in town on business Thursday. Jas. .F. Irwin returned Friday from a business trip to Wolcott. Dr. and Mrs. I. M. Washburn were Chicago visitors Thursday. (Hen R. Maxwell and Frank Coop of Remington were business visitors here Thursday. E. L. Hollingsworth returned, Thursday from Lamar, Colo., where he had been on a business trip. Annette Borntrager of Ft. Wayne returned to her home Wednesday after a short visit with relatives here. Roe Yeoman, who has been visiting with his parents Mr. and Mrs. A. K. Yeoman, returned to Lafayette Wednesday. Ray Miller returned Wednesday to his home in Piqua, Ohio, after a month’s visit with his brother, Rev. O. E. Miller. Miss Nora Poisell, who has been staying with Recorder and Mrs. J, H. Tilton, left Wednesday for her home in Wheatfield.
John Kohler left Wednesday for Chicago Heights, 111., and from there expected to go to Chicago to take in the'cement show. The North Side Meat Market under, the proprietorship of Joe Putts, has closed its doors until cold weather comes again. W. H. Collins of Covington, Ohio, returned to his home Thursday after a short visit with his daughter, Mrs. James Parkinson. Miss Fannie Porter gave a kitchen shower Friday night for Miss Doris Porter whose marriage to E. S. Mills takes place Sunday. j\Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Larsh celebrated their Bth wedding anniversary Wednesday with a dinner party to the ladies of the “So” Club. Miss Coral Tillman returned Thursday to her home in North Manchester, Ind., after a visit with her brother, Prof. E. S. Tillman. Caleb Friend of Peotone, 111., was in the city on business Thursday. He has purchased a farm'near Fores-, man and will move opto same soon. Newton county will vote next Tuesday on the local option proposition. The general opinion seems to be that the county will vote dry. John Wagner returned to his home in Orland, 111., Thursday after a week’s visit with Barney Stine and Joe Nessius of southeast of town.
