SAY OFFICIALS DRAW PAY AND DO NOTHING

Immigration Commission Criticised Sharply by Washington, Feb. 19.—The immigration commission, composed mainly of members of the senate and of the house of representatives, was sharply

criticised by Senator Gary. Besides members of both houses. Professor Jenks of Cornell university, Dr. Wheeler of California and Commissioner of Labor Neill are members of the commission, the salary of each being fixed at $7,500 a year. Senator Bailey said that “never for an hour has that man Neill earned onethird of this amount.” Gary charged that one member of the commission received $7,500 a year and S2OO a month for expenses and that “this man has not lost a day from his regular work as professor since his employment by the commission.” A resolution was adopted calling for a complete report of the commission’s work.
