POSTPONE SLANDER TRIAL
Columbus Editor Says He Will Prove Bribery Charge. Columbus, Ind„ Feb. 19. —The case of Newton M. Wilson against Walter C. Galbraith, editor of the Columbus Democrat, demanding SIO,OOO for alleged slander, which was called in the Bartholomew circuit court was continued until the next term. At the time the case was called Galbraith informed the cDurt that two of his most important witnesses were sick in bed and nnable to be present. These witnesses were Captain W.. H. Aikens and Joseph A. Spaugh, both of Hope, this county. Some time ago at a meeting of the Bartholomew county council Galbraith accused Wilson, who is employed by the J. B. Workman company of Indianapolis, with accepting a bribe of S6O and it was on this charge that the suit was brought. In the affidavit for continuance Galbraith alleged that he would be able to prove by Spaugh that. in 1907 Spaugh was summoned to this/ city, where Wilson told him he owed Bartholomew county $294 for sequestered taxes, but that he would settle the claim with him and say nothing more about it if Spaugh would pay him S6O Spaugh says he paid the money
