It is understood that the contract has been let for the erection of the new Chapel and Sisters’ House at St. Joseph’s College. The two buildings will cost upwards to SBO,OOO. The name of the contractor is being withheld by request for a short time.

John Elglesbach informs us that the statement which recently appeared in The Democrat that he intended to go to Medford, Oregon, shortly, is a -mistake. He is figuring on going to Spokane, Wash., where he was a few years ago and where there is already quite a colony of Rensselaer and Jasper county- people. He will not leave until some time in April, he says.

W. B. Yeoman and family of Newton tp., left Wednesday for their new home near Columbia City. Mr. Yeoman loaded his car at Julian and the family left here by rail Wednesday afternoon. His farm lies 8 miles south of Columbia City, 12 miles southwest of where Walter Ponsler’s farm lies. Mr. Yeoman ■and family have a host of friends here who regret to have them leave Jasper county. That they may be happy and prosperous in their new home, is the wish of all their old neighbors and friends.

Mark Yeoman, a former Jasper countian, in writing to a friend here from Kingman, Kan., where he now resides says, among other things that he has, bought another quarter section of land there since visiting here last fall, which now makes him 1120 acres, 800 in one body. He paid S6O per acre for this last quarter. When he first went there he bought land at $12.50 per acre. As Mark’s trip here last fall was rather in the way of celebrating his getting out of debt —he having “burned the mortgage” before leaving home—it will be seen that he has a plenty of this world’s goods and has prospered greatly since going west.

Active county representative wanted for a special offering of valuable lands at a low price. A good chance for energetic man. FLORIDA FRUIT LAND CO. Indianapolis, Ind.

Especially do we w’ant regular correspondents at Demotte, Wheatfield, Tefft, Kniman, Parr, Pleasant Grove, Gifford, Newland, Pleasant Ridge, and also at Remington.
