Calvin Cox of Bedford came Thursday to work for T. F. Dunlap of near Surrey. C. R. Faris and wife of Medaryville are visiting with his cousin, Frank Rowen of the Home Grocery. The cement show, which will attract many local cement men, will be held in Chicago at the Coliseum Feb. 18-24. The K. O. K. A. Club of the Presbyterian church gave a banquet in their club rooms at the church Thursday night. The seniors’ reception to the juniors of the high school was held at the home of Dr. and Mrs. E. C. English Thursday night. Miss Clara Huston returned to her home in Hoopeston, 111., Thursday. She has been visiting here with Mr. and Mrs. Herschel Brenner. Mesdames T. F. Clark of Battle Ground, and Emma Townsley of Corning, lai, came Wednesday to visit jwith their sister, Mrs. George Colvert. Miss Kindig of Northwestern University, Chicago, is spending a short vacation with her parents, the Rev. and Mrs. H. L. Klndig. Don’t forget the postponed DurocJersey hog sale at the farm of G. |O. Platt, returned to her home in Danville, 111., Wednesday. Mrs. Valeria Banes Houser of South Bend came Thursday for a visit with Mr. and Mrs. C. B. Stewart. Mrs. Houser is the daughter of Monroe Banes, a former resident of this place.
Henry Theile of New York, a student at St. Joseph’s College, suffered a severe dislocation of one of his limbs while engaged in a game of basket ball at the college Wednesday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. G. F. Schlank and daughter, Mrs. Pete Greiser, and two children, left Thursday for the former’s home in El Paso, 111. Mrs. Greiser will remain there with her parents, we understand.

Mrs. V. O. Patterson returned to her home at New Boston, 111., after a several weeks visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Philip Blue. Her father accompanied her as far as her home and from there he will go to Lincoln, Neb.
Professor Leon, who here a short time ago with a medicine show, endeavored to make a few Attica cripples walk without the aid of crutch or cane, and as a result he was arrested for practicing medicine without a physician’s license.
Dr. Turfler and Scott Chestnut, proprietors of the Rensselaer Garage, went to Chicago Thursday to attend the auto show and to attend the annual banquet of the MaxwellBriscoe Motor Company, which was held at the Auditorium Thursday night. ■
The funeral of Mrs. Lois Penwright, the aged lady who was burned to death Monday afternoon near Sharon was held Friday morning at the home of Mrs. Mary Gish near that place at 9:30, and interment was made In the Powell cemetery.
