AN UNSAVORY MESS.
The hearing in the Greiser-With--3n case came up before Judge anley as judge of the juvenile court, to which docket the case was transferred, Wednesday .afternoon. The court found that neither Peter Grelser or his wife were fit persons to have control of the two children, and that they should be given into the care of Mrs. Grelser’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Schlank of El Paso, 111., should be wards of this court and that the parents should each be permitted to see the children at all reasonable times. Charles Witham’s connection with the domestic affairs of the Grelser’s did not reflect any credit upon him, and the evidence went to show that since they had gone to live with Ebenezer Mabb, the whole outfit lived in a couple of small rooms and the moral influences>cast about the children and Witham’s 15-yearold daughter, who lived with him, could not be of a very elevating character to say the least. This would apply especially to Witham’s daughter, who, if the reports of the conditions that existed between him and Mrs. Grelser are correct, should be removed from such surroundings. The parents of both Mr. and Mrs. Greiser wanted Peter’s children, but the court held that Mrs. Grelser’s parents, who are said to be well to do, were better able to care for them than Grelser’s.
