SURPRISE ON MR. AND MRS. R. B. PORTER.
Last Wednesday evening after prayer meeting, the members of the Baptist church surprised Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Porter and family. Rev. Miller and wife had previously arranged to spend a few moments with them at that hour, so while visiting, without warning about sixty members of the church came into their beautiful home and to say the least they wore agreeably surprised. Refreshments of fruit and candy were served. A beautiful souvenir spoon, with the church outline engraved upon It was presented to the family by the church. It is the deepest regret of Mr. and Mrs. Porter and family to leave their church affiliation where they have worked for many years. The statement was made that this would always be home -to them even as they will look back upon Rensselaer, and places near as “hqjne,” though they may become members of another church. Perhaps nowhere will this family be missed more than in the church, their home. Three cheers were given for Mr. Porter because he so kindly and hospitably invited all to surprise them in their new South Dakota home, as was done here. It is hoped and known that they will be a blessing whereever they go. xx The dried peaches and apricots at the Home Grocery are just as extra fine as {heir prunes, that have taken so well.
