NIGHT RIDERS GUT THROAT OF PLANTER

Sheriff Finds Victim Tied to Tree, Apparently Dead. Thomasville. Ga.. Jan. 5.—8. F. Abridge. a planter who lives near here, was seized In the suburbs of Thomasville by night riders, bound to a tree, maltreated, and his throat cut from ear to ear. Akridge was found tied to a tree and apparently dead by Sheriff Singletarry. The sheriff had Akridge carried to a hospital. Doctors revived him and say despite the wound in his throat and many other injuries he may recover. Akridge says he was attacked by eigift men who demanued that he swear not to do certain things. When he refused he was attacked Akridge says he knows his assailants, but will not tell their names, as to do so would invite death.
