AN ELEGANT CASH REGISTER.
E. V. Ranstord of the 99 Cent Racket Store installed the finest cash .register Monday that was ever seen in Rensselaer. Besides being a, handsome piece of furniture It is almost human, as > mistakes cannot easily occur in keeping cash matters Straight To tell all it does would take nearly* a column of space, so we will not attempt it. But, briefly stated, each clerk has a cash drawer in the cabinet and a particular letter, and a different sounding bell rings for each drawer when it opens, so a clerk after learning the sound ot her particular bell can tell if any other clerk tampers with it by the sound. Each clerkâs sales are totaled right along and the number of customers waited on by each is kept accurately, as Is the total of the sales of all and the total number of customers waited on by all. The date, number. of the clerk and the amount of the purchase is printed on a ticket that is dropped out at the side when the crank is turned and a drawer is opened, and a clock at the other side keeps perfect tab of the time of day on a revolving disk that stamps on the ticket ths hour and minute the sale was made. There are numerous other features, including accurate account of money paid out, etc., that only an extended article could recite. The cost of the machine was $750, but Mr. Ranstord had three other machines, the best of which cost him 1350, which he traded in on this one, so the actual cash outlay was not $750 at this time.
