AGAINST CHICAGO AND ALTON
Divided Court Sustains Verdict In Favor of Government.
Washington, Jan. 5. —By a divided court the supreme court of the United States has decided the rebate case brought by the government against the Chicago and Alton Railway company and Vice President Faithorn and Treasurer Wann of that company in favor of the government. The case involved a charge of making a concession to the packing firm of Schwarzschild & Sulzberger on shipments from Kansas City, Kan., to eastern pdlnts.
