MINISTER’S WIFE GETS DIVORCE

Portland, Ind., Nov. 24.—Mrs. Isabelle McCarty received a divorce from her husband, the Rev. William E. McCarty, Saturday evening. Cruel treatment was charged. It is said that this act of cruelty was a statement which the defendant made to his wife one day on his return from a trip to the country. The plaintiff was the only witness examined, and she was not crossexamined by the defendant’s counsel. Following the necessary legal notice given by Mrs. McCarty the court ordered that her name be changed from Isabelle McCarty to Isabelle Williams, her name prior to her marrying the minister.
