WITH PRINTER’S INK
GOME OF THE AbVERTISING PLANS TO MAKE A GREAT FAHWfIN. Secretary Small of the Kankakee District Fair Tells of Advertising Plans. The motto of one of the greatest advertising firms in the world is “Keeping everlastingly at it brings success.” This motto is applied to printer’s ink r and all the concomitants that go to make up advertising, such as lithographs, large sheets for the bill boards, signs, etc. The management of the Kankakee Distreit Fair has found tliat. the’motto of the advertising firm is’ no misnonier, for by the liberal use of legitimate advertising methods, backed up by an*exhibition that fails in no detail, the fair has been built into one of the great institutions of its character in the middle west. Lota of Printer’s Ink. Several months before the openday of the fair Secretary Len Small and his force of helpers get busy. Thousands of premium lists are issued and sent broadcast over the land. This is followed up by liberal and attractive advertising in the leading newspapers of the fair district. In addition to this in the neighborhood of 40,000 supplements, upon which are found the premium list, are printed. These are circulated to practically all' the leading newspapers over the fair district. Then comes that important adjunct to newspaper advertising, the bill board displays. Large sheets, picturing and describing the attractions at the fair, are posted on the bill boards and blank walls in territory surrounding the fair district for a distance sometimes of 70 miles from Kankakee. Last come the window displays of fine litlmgraphs and posters, the most artistic and attractive to be found being used. Newspapers the Best.
All in all a large amount of money is spent in advertising the District Fair. Secretary Len Small in speaking of .this feature of the Kankakee District Fair says something that is pleasing to every newspaper man. Says «Mr. Small: “We have found that advertising pays. Backed by a clean show, a good exhibition, plenty of entertainment for the people and all promises kept, we have found advertising a very potent feature in the building up of the Fair. Of course, newspaper advertising might be called the aristocracy of publicity but It all helps and we believe much of the success of the fair is attributable to our advertising, that is, letting the people know what we have, to shoA them and then showing it* to them when they come.” The Kankakee District Fair this year will be bigger and better than ever. Its dates are Sept. 7 to 11 inclusive, five days and four evenings. Don't fail to attend.
