There was a Reason and a time when many people might hesitate to visit a dentist. What their friends told was sufficient to keep them away. Progress in' dentistry has reduced pain to such a minimum that fear of pain is absolutely useless to think about. LOCAL AND PERSONAL. Brtef Items of Interest to City and Country Readers. R. D. Thompson was in Montieello on business Tuesday. White ft Hickman were in Mount Ayr Thursday on business. To-days markets: Wheat, 85c; eorn, 60c; rye, 60c; oats, 44c. The Carroll county old settlers meeting is being held at Delphi today. Rev. G. H. Clarke family are spending the week at Bethany Park, near Indianapolis. The Monon wil run an excursion to Chicago on Sunday, ; August 9th, $1.25 for the round trip. Gollmar Bros, circus is to exhibit at Monticello August 19. Rensselaer seems to be given the go-by on circuses this year. A. D. Washburn of Kentland came over in his auto Wednesday. He says business is quiet in his town. ~r'An immense dray load of “empties," cases, barrels and boxes, was hauled away from'' the side door of Hotel Rosey yesterday morning. Mrs. Ed Irwin of WQlcott came to visit hefr mother, Mrs. J. L. Hagen, who has been very sick, with a liver trouble, but is some better at this writing. Mr. and Mrs. Mat Zimmer of Gillam tp., were in the c|ty We<f nesday, doing some trading. Oats were no good in his locality, but there is some good looking corn. Leonard Turner, The Democrat’s head linotype operator, went to his home at Monticello Thursday eve- ' ning and Friday Joined a party of young friends for a few days camping out on the Tippecanoe. If there was no panic and is no hard times, why is it necessary for the Republican political managers to have a "re-employment day," and why do they talk so much about a "return of prosperity”? Instead of blowing up the water main crossing the river Just north of the Washington street bridge, the rock gang skipped a few holes at this point, and the city has employed men to dig it up, in this way saving the rosin for future use.
