Yates and Chas. Parker, One of the twin babes of Mr, and Mrs. Chas. Elder, aged about four month,s died Saturday and was buried Sunday. Wm. Smith, who reoently moved here from Mt. Ayr, is gradually failing from consumption and his death is only a question of a short time. Prica of Barkley tp., returned last Friday from a two weeks visit with the family of Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Lemna of Piper City, 111. Mr. and Mrs. August Rosenbaum have leased the old Nowels House and will take oharge of same as soon as some repairs are made thereto. Prof. Sam Sparling is here from Wisconsin University, having been called by the sickness of his father, who is afflicted with Bright’s disease. M. Lakin and family who have been in Turley, Ind. Ter., for the past few years, have returned to Jasper county and will occupy their farm in Union tp. B. 8. Fendig and little daughter and Mrs. Ralph Fendig and niece Mies Belle Fendig, left Wednesday (horning for New Orleans to spend the winter. John T. Murray of the north part of town, got 8 fall while loading hay at th? J. M. Wasson farm southeast of town Tuesday, breaking a rib and bruising his face considerably; An extra large amount of work to handle in the office this week has compelled us to omit some matter which will appear next week, including a Florida letter from F. W. Austin. The high school fraternity boys who have had quarters in the E. of P. bnilding for some time, have leased J. H. Ellis’ residence on Front street and will move thereto. Mr. Ellis reserves a couple of rooms for his own use. Ralph W. McConnell of Oxford is a candidate for the democratic nominotion for reporter of the sxv preme court, and is a strong man in his own looality at least, it is etated. It looks like there will be no dearth candidates to fill the tioket this year, jrhioh is a very, hopeful sign. In remitting for another year’s subscription to The Democrat from Copemish, Mich., John Kimble says: “I cannot think of doing without the paper for it gives me all the old home news, and I see in it that democracy is gaining ground in old Indiana. Keep the wheel rolling and W.. J. Bryan will be our next president.
